If you're a masochist and want hear how my boomer generation destroyed the future for absolutely everyone who comes after us, watch the video in the opinion section of Sunday's New York Times. I was booing and agreeing, but mostly wondering how the writer/performers left out the inhumanity of humans in general -- how our species is selfish, brutal, greedy, etc. Normal for primates, but I guess I expected too much compassion from the general public coming of age as I was in 1969. The video performers did say we had good music. Hope they've listened to "Good times, Bad Times." or "Four Dead in Ohio" or "Hard Rain's Gonna Fall," I could go on and on. The younger gen should be grateful they're not being drafted to fight in a war we had no earthly reason to be in. (think Venezuela) I said this out loud to the video (!) "Protesting was and is absolutely necessary. Don't be glib, kids." When I was starting college, I had a typewriter I bought myself (I Am No Fortunate Son). that was it. No "devices," no TV, no radio, just books. That's part of the reason we "no fortunates" could survive on nearly nothing.

Lisa, your comment on Dancing Around Death in Hungary just showed up on my phone, but can’t find it on my home site. I did not distribute it widely, you are welcome to, if you wish. I see you are a reader of many blogs and a great reader. Or you can drive people to it on the site. Thank you

Another good Sabbath, mon cher. It occurred to me while driving to Sebastopol this morning to go shopping that the privately owned vehicles, gas or electric, promote fascism. Everyone behind the wheel is a fascist of one kind or another. If private vehicles were abolished, people would have to ride public transportation which would provide evidence that they are not alone in the world, as is the illusion of their singularity when they are behind the wheel of their single user transportation. This revelation came about when the guy tailgating me passed me only to end up tailgating the car in front of me. Private transportation makes us privileged assholes.

By the way, I'm listening to "Good times, bad times" on the Rolling Stones 12 by 5, and it's fantastic and worth revisiting.
