I have a children's picture book "My New York" by Kathy Jacobsen. I read through it every now and then, and afterwards I feel very content. Less often I peruse my map of historic places to visit in NYC, which includes the Chelsea Hotel. I have been a tourist, or visiting my aunt and cousins lived in Oyster Bay, Long Island. My Uncle did the windows for Saks. Later I went while visiting the "home office." Those working visits were bad to awful, except the company paid for everything and we had a few nights to roam. Never met any poets, topless ladies, or artists or a Dylan Cohen. Dang it all! My grandmother would sometimes live with my aunt, and then with us. I literally sat at her knee while she told me about the City in great detail. She loved being there so much -- a super Knicks fan. That was in 1960. From her stories I created a recurring playlet for my fancy lady doll: She lived in a glorious apartment in NYC with a view of Central Park. (I so wanted to live there!) My doll was a Rockette and engaged to Bob Barker, host of "The Price is Right." She had no interest in the bohemian life, but did discuss Greenwich Village on occasion.

Love your new book of poems.
I remember SOHO when ir was cheap and in semi-ruins. Can you imagine that?
